TEAM | Check In With Julia Dias

The reigning Queen of Lovers, Julia Dias, is constantly on the move and looking for the next skim session. She is a force to be reckoned with on the board but is one of the nicest people around off of it! We caught up with her to check in and see what she’s been up to and what she has planned for the rest of her season! Check it out now.

HAMMER: Hey Julia! How has 2026 been treating you?
Julia: Hello, Hammer family! So far, it's been an amazing year. I'm really happy about my win in Cabo San Lucas and the launch of Skim Girlz, a movement created to connect, support, and celebrate female skimboarders around the world.

HAMMER: What has been your favorite moment of 2026 so far?
Julia: Being able to skim in my hometown after graduating from college has been really special. Now I can try to dedicate myself more fully to skimboarding, and that's made this season even more meaningful.

HAMMER: What do you have planned for the rest of the season?
Julia: I'm competing in every stop of the world tour this year. I'm also traveling to Portugal, which I hope will be one of the biggest events of the year for the girls. I'm excited not only to discover new waves but also to experience the local culture and meet amazing people.

HAMMER: Outside of skimboarding, what else do you like to do in your spare time?
Julia: Besides training, I work as an instructor in a social skimboarding project at Sununga Beach. It's incredible to see more and more young people getting into the sport every day in the town where I live. I also enjoy writing and telling stories beyond skimboarding through my other profession as a journalist.

HAMMER: Do you have any sick trips coming up?
Julia: I'm really excited to visit Portugal for the first time later this month for the second stop of the World Skimboard Tour. Other than that, all of my travels will be for competitions. California is always a dream destination to return to, I just hope we get great waves and plenty of good conditions for skimboarding.

HAMMER: Thanks for the catch up, Julia! Is there anything else you’d like to say before we go?
Julia: I'd like to invite everyone to come out and support the upcoming skimboarding events and all the activities happening during and after the competitions, especially our Skim Girlz meetup in Portugal on July 23rd. Most of all, I hope everyone has an incredible season with great waves and lots of fun in the water.
